Growing like a Weed - Isis Update
I just can't get over how fast this girl is growing. This time last year she was probably around 300g. Now she is well over 600 (probably around 700 by now) and growing fast. She is eating anything and everything I offer. Though, even with my attempts to handle her, she is still not calming down. The other day was feeding day and she struck at her tub repeatedly after I had fed her and was feeding the other snakes. She freaks out whenever you try and pick her up (constantly trying to get away or flailing her body around, even if I'm supporting her)
I'm on the fence about whether to keep her and work with her and eventually breed her down the road, or sell her. I really do want to work with boas but she wasn't handled regularly from a baby. She was at first and I'm trying to now, but she just won't calm down.

Oh and that paper towel roll is in there just to give you a reference for size. Oh and does anyone have any clue as to what she actually is? If I remember correctly when I purchased her the sign on the tank said "Baby Columbian Boas." This is the same store that also sold me my normal male corn snake as a hypo.

She's looking good. Mine are pretty flighty when I first pick them up but after 5-10 minutes they usually calm down alot. Just one of the personality differences between boas and BP's...

Re: Growing like a Weed - Isis Update
Is she definitely a Columbian Red Tail boa? I just want to make sure because the same store sold me a corn snake as a certain morph and it wasn't so I just wanted to make sure she is what I purchased her as.
I plan on getting her a cage when she outgrows her tub but looking at her current size and the size of the tub (32qt), how much longer do you think I have before I need to go out and get her a new cage?

I tend to follow the Length + Width = Snake Length train of thought. So if the tub is roughly 24" X 16", then once the snake gets to be around 40 inches or so it would be time to upgrade. I think this also works out for the "1sq ft of floor space per 1 foot of snake" train of thought people. I hope this helps...

Now I get to try and get a length on her. Thanks for all your help!

She looks like a PRETTY normal columbian RTB. To get her length, put her on a cold floor. They seem to just stop in their tracks and if anything, stretch out and try to find warmer ground. I use the cool tile in my kitchen for measuring. Works like a charm.

Re: Growing like a Weed - Isis Update
I just look at mine when they are crawling around the tub. Once their body length covers more than half of the perimeter of the tub, I go shopping for a bigger one...
