Young one's will shed every 4 to 6 weeks. It slows down as it gets older. I think a full grown adult goes about every 3 to 4 months. Of course, it varies as all balls grow different. If they are injured, or have had mite problems they shed more often.
There is nothing to worry about, as long as his husbandry is spot on
