Re: Ball python found in a locker

Well, I'm glad the guy responded to it in a decent manner. At least he didn't kill it, better than most stories I hear.

Work at a pet store ...unfortunately A LOT of reptiles get handed off to store employees. I "adopted" a ball python, bearded dragon, (very sick) Savannah Monitor, a few green anoles, a Quaker Parrot, and a leopard gecko at my short employment at a Petco. There were many many more pets given up there that other employees adopted or found homes for. I guess it wasn't a bad thing because their owners did the right thing by trying to find new homes for them pets instead of neglecting them or something.

    I really like this part

"Reardon said the snake, later identified as a ball python, coiled up in an attack stance in the hallway of the high school."

I wonder if that "attack stance" resembled a ball?

Re: Ball python found in a locker

the guy who found him gets my respect.... most people would have killed or seriously injured a snake... but he gave it water and treated it as any other pet untill it could be givin to *experienced* keepers. even though it didnt mention that if he didnt like the snake or had a hatred for snakes, he did try to investigate to see who might have put a animals health at such jepordy....

*(i guess by being a pet shop they are experienced)
    1.0 Normal ball python
and my other animals 1.1 dogs

Re: Ball python found in a locker

Depends on the BP... some when startled would react with a semi-attack stance, which is later followed by the "IT'S NOT SCARED! *balls*" reaction when you go to pick it up.

But yes, I did instantly think it tried to ball, then realized that most people wouldnt see "ball with head on bottom" as attack stance.
