    Some boys are plain lazy!

Posted a while back thinking my pied female was gravid, proved not to be the case..at the moment I am 90% sure she is building, I havnt bred her for a while so decided to put in my pied male..2 days..Nothing!! Out of curiosity popped in my het axanthic who has just finished a 36hr lock with my axanthic female..honestly with in under 5 minutes they are locked..guess the pied just doesnt like her!
Before any one mentions..I know its not the best of pairings but if he proves to be the daddy I am keeping all the offspring..worst case scenario will be 100% het pied poss het axanthic LOL!
Posted as cant believe how quickly the fella was in there

Why would you bother pairing a Pied with a het Axanthic?? Seems like a waste.. oh nevermind you said not to mention the pairing.. LOL j/k

At least they locked and you will get something hopefully. Het pied/poss het Ax are better than no eggs at all..

    Good luck with them,
    Gavin

Re: Some boys are plain lazy!

Heres a pic of the two..been locked for over 24 hrs..question if any one can help..She has had locks in the past with another couple of boys, she is only building now, is it possible that the other pairings may have fertilized her or would this pairing be the one?

    Hi,

Welcome to the wonderful world of "who's yer daddy?"

At least you can be certain all offspring are 100% het pied.

    And best of luck.

LOL! At least..if these go on to produce they should be 50% het pied..50% het axanthic pied..If this is the case I will produce a clutch or two of 100% dhets next season and hold every thing back to breed together rather than trying to prove out any possible dhets

    Hi,

Yeah that's the only downside of multiple males if there is recessive in the mix.

The best you can claim is poss hets for the male side of the equation.

What else was she paired with?

She had loads of locks with a black pastel pewter (really hoping for that one)..one or two with the pied & this is the second with the het..the only reason he went in was to see who wasnt intrested & both times it proved to be the male pied..this het would breed any thing so not the female..she shed around 5 weeks ago & has a def build going on so we will see
