    Might get a pair tonight

I was planning on ordering a pair of BP's next week...but it turns out that there is a guy who lives two blocks from me that is selling his pair (I came across him on craigslist). I called him up and asked a few questions...one snake is 3 ft and the other is just under 3ft. He got them 6 months ago from a teacher who could no longer keep them in her class room. He told me though, that he feeds them every 3 weeks...is this too long a period between feedings? He says that the bigger snake takes 3 mice and the smaller takes 2. Both are said to be very tame ( he says that his kids play with them all the time). He has to get rid of them though because he does not have room for them in the house anymore. He seemes to have a good level knowledge...so I am planning on going to his place today and check them out before committing to a buy.

That seems a little long. I think on a mouse diet, I would go every week. My adult males, on rats, only eat about ever two weeks though. They are lazy. I hope they are nice and healthy. Good luck!

Re: Might get a pair tonight

Well I whent to check out the snakes and the guy was pretty cool. Both snakes were pretty alert...head shy (but I think thats somewhat normal). One is in the process of shedding. Not all coming off in one piece but I think that its from the dry Arizona heat. When I had my boa, I would put her in a damp burlap sack and that helped with her shed....so think that I might do that for this snake. Both are pretty strong...didnt want me to put them down so they wrapped themselves around me pretty good...well long story short...I got both snakes and now they are in their enclosure relaxing. I will post pics of them in a few days once I get them comfortable!

The guy had them both in a 15 gallon tank. I have a two level enclosure that I converted from an old book shelf that they are in now.

Re: Might get a pair tonight

Well, I made the decision to buy the two BPs that I whent to check out Friday. The first night, I set the tank up and let them get adjusted...second night, I took them out and let them lounge around on my living room floor. Both are very laid back. Yesterday, I tried feeding them. The guy I got them from told me that he had them on a diet of live mice and that they had never eaten F/T mice...but I dont think that he ever tried either because as soon as I put them in their "feed boxes" both snakes seemed to know what was coming. I took the thawed mice in a pair of tongs and offered one to each snake in his own box...both took the mice right off the tongs on the first try!! Kind of startling at first. Both snakes took two med sized mice each...i think that they might be ready for a bigger meal because those mice were gone pretty fast! Might try to post pics of them later this week after digest their meals.

Nice! It's always great to see new ones eating. Wait and see how long it takes them to digest it. If they are up and moving around in 1 day, they need more. Lol. Mine will usually sleep the full 48 hrs it takes for them to digest a good meal.

Not yet. I was going to snap a few the other night while I had them out but didnt. Now I want to let them digest their meals and when I get them out again, I plan to. Will post them soon.

Are they actually not able to get to each other in this enclosure, b/c if they can it's honestly not a very good idea.
