    Feeding by Weight

Hey all, just want to make sure I have this right. Last week I fed my girl by girth. I fed her a small rat that was about the size of her girth if not slightly larger. Couldnt really tell if it really was larger just by eye balling it.

I just weighed her tonight and she is 447g. So if I feed by weight I am looking for prey no larger than what...67g and no smaller than 44g. Based on the 10 - 15 precent guidline?

Is this correct? I plan on sizing based on girth but to make sure I dont make a newb mistake I am also considering grams of the prey.

Just wanted to make sure before I order a flat of rats that I got this correct. It looks like I am looking for rats in the small rat category...correct?

Oh and if you have a recommended source for online let me know. I also heard there may be a show coming up in Arlington TX. Are shows a good source for F/T at bargain prices?

Yes, rats that size would be appropriate. The only online rodent dealer I can think of right now is Rodent Pro, but I know there are some others...

Shows are also a good place to pick up frozen feeders. Just try to get there early on the first day to get a good selection. Make sure you take an ice chest full of ice, especially if you plan on staying and looking around...

mozbink, where do you live? Big Cheese Rodent Factory is located in Fort Worth and you can order and pick up from them Mon through Fri. It is very convenient and they have good rodents for good prices.

I live in Denton. So I am going to be looking into them. Thanks for the heads up on them.
