Re: A bunch of questions and tank planning

Should the water dish have a small Hide or be open air? Open Air.

How many Hides overall are recommended? Atleast 2.

How many till things get too noisy for the BP? Not sure what you mean?

Are two Hides immediately necessary for a baby? Yes.

How many hides per 10 gallon? Same amount, just smaller but big enough for the snake to fit in.

If I was going for a Snake Cave should I go straight to medium? You could but they wouldn't feel as secure and are more likely to be stressed.

Do the Hides have to be identical? No, but its preferred.

What Ceramic Heat Bulb wattage is ideal in a 10-20 Gallon Tank? 40-60 Watt bulb will work just make sure its plugged into a thermostat.

Placement of Heat Bulb within tank? Anywhere as long as its not above the UTH.

What should be under the Bulb? A Hide? A normal stone? A climbing stick? Nothing? Anything you wan't pretty much I would recommend not putting a Hide under it. But if you have humidity problems put the water dish under it.

I've seen differing opinions -everywhere-, but is it OK to do a Day/Night cycle within the tank using a ReptiSun UVB and a Timer? I would say no unless you are breeding your snake, or if its in a dark place were there is no natural light.

If a ReptiSun is against the rules (BP's being nocturnal in nature), would low-heat emission light be alright for day-time viewing (don't have the brightest house). Yes, that would be fine just make sure its not shining right in the BPs face/hide.

For a 10-20 Gallon Tank, how many UTH's are required if a Ceramic Bulb is also running? None are required but a UTH is highly recommended. But to answer the questions you only need 1 and that one needs to be on the opposite side of were the CHE (Ceramic Heat Emitter) is. And make sure one of the hides is above the UTH.

Where would it/they be placed in the tank relative to Hides, Heat Bulb, Water, and so on? Heat Bulb can be placed on the Left or Right side just not the side the UTH is on. Put a hide near the Heat Bulb and put a Hide above the UTH and the water dish can be anywhere you wan't.

And for substrate I would use Papertowels, Cypress Mulch or Aspen. It all depends on preferences.
