Heat pad

i just got my ball and it is in a 24x12" glass tank. i was wondering if a normal human heating pad is good for under the tank to keep the basking spot warm enough for him for now? i havent got a thermostat yey for that side of the tank. the ambient tank temp stays between 76-84 F*.

No, Human Heating pads can't be used.

with no way of monitoring the hot side temps, I would advise not to, since you just got the snake and will be leaving it alone to acclimate to it's new surroundings before feeding, this gives you a week to get the proper supplies.

Human heating pads are not made to heat tanks or tubs with snakes in themyou need to either get a precut UTH (under the tub heater) or flexwatt. You also need a thermostat to control them & a digital thermometer to monitor the UTH. There are many threads in the forums on this site to guide you according to your budget. With a glass tub you also need to make sure your humidity is 50%-60% most of the time and 70-89% when your snake is in shed. A wet towel on top od your screened lid helps with that. thanks... i have red tons of care info on these guys as was kinda getting confused with all of them being dif. so i figured i would just ask. so i have a little leway? i live in michigan so it is pretty humid right now so not worried about that. thanks though. i will have to go out soon and get some supplies
