    Re: Whats A Dinker

A "Dinker" is the term used to describe a snake that may have an unusual trait, markings, or coloring that hasn't been proven genetic yet. My BP has a somewhat unusual pattern, but, the only way to see if it is genetic would be to breed him with a normal female and see if the offspring have the same pattern. Therefore, I might consider him a "Dinker" project if I ever got into breeding. Until then, he is just a normal with an interesting pattern...

I don't really like it either. It just seems so...degrading, when applied to an animal known as a Royal Python. I would rather refer to them as a "Potential" or "possible". I mean possible hets are "possible". That's like saying, "Hey, look at my new snake. It's a het pied dinker."

As for where the word came from, who knows? It's probably one those words that people use to mean "mess with" or "experiment with." Kind of like when someone says " I like to sit in the garage and tinker with my bike." or " My car isn't running right. I need to fiddle with the carburetor a bit."...

    Re: Whats A Dinker

All of the morphs we see today were at one point "dinkers," but they proved out genetically. They're pretty good things to have.

As for the word, I'm finding a lot of meanings for it

I'd say it has something to do with Tinkering.

    Re: Whats A Dinker

thanks. yeah its totally possible. i didnt know the "slang" words. i know its no slang, but i can seem to find the right word.

but i think theres a good chance that it is like that.

i find the term possible good- but u get always confused with poss hets...

also- i think- the name is so much in our languague, its hard to get em out there...

if it was so easy, we wouldnt have so much lines that are the same...

and yeah- dinkers are always good to have- make always fun!!!

i think everyone should have one- even it just a normal in the end...

they arent that expensiv if they look not too odd, but there are a lot morphs they look much like normals that produce super hot balls.

    Most answers are not post-able

Verb. To troubleshoot. To fix. To try different things with. To work on something when you don't really know what you are doing or don't know what else to do. To try unorthodox remedies.

acts without thinking. never to be taken seriously. someone who wants to act out and have fun no matter what the consequences. lol
