For those that use plastic water dishes....just a quick ?

I have 4" pvc connectors as water bowl holders and plastic Fabricare 8oz water dishes for my adult BP's. My tubs are 6" high and the pvc sits on top of my substrate (newspaper). My BP's have less than 2" to get into the water bowl. Is that about the same amount of room for your BP's? Since they are not going to be soaking, I don't see why this wouldn't be ok, but I just wanted to see what you experienced breeders do.

I wouldn't say I am the most experienced but I find mine are always knocking their dishes over and getting their substrate (paper towels) wet, this is solved with a heavier water bowl...but mine soak every once in a while a couple inches is more than enough for the water will rise with them being in the dish and they don't need to be completely submerged. The water dishes are basically there to drink from so I generally put very little water in the dish.

My BP's have no room to soak at all. The dish is an 8oz bowl and it is not full, so it probably has around 6 oz of water......about the size of a small butter. Basically, there is enough room for them to drink out of and thats it. I have considered just getting a large ceramic bowl to allow them to soak and keep the humidity up without spraying every 3 days. Where do you get your heavy bowls from?

I don't - I just use ceramic dog bowls so they can't tip them.

I don't really have a reason but I haven't given any of my BP's a bowl big enough to soak in for years.

I also don't give mine bowls large enough to soak in - well, except the adults, but that's simply because I give them a larger crock - but I don't give it to them so that they CAN soak. My only soakers are gravid females.

Anywhere could have heavy ceramic bowls, walmart, petco, any pet store. The only time mine have bowls big enough to soak in is if they are having shedding problems or I am trying to raise the humidity a bit, Spagum Moss works great for this. If you are keeping your snake in a tank it would be easier to have a larger bowl without taking up all your space as opposed to a rack or tub where a larger water dish could possibly take up all the snakes room.

They are in a 10 tub rack, 41q Sterilite containers. I am not going with the ceramic at all......I thought of switching but I will just spray extra water in the tub when they shed. My humidity stays consistently between 50-60% with my 8oz disposable plastic bowls. I know Petco, Petsmart, etc. has them but I was just wondering if other places had them for a better price. I saw descent ones at Walmart, Target, and other stores for half the price of pet stores though. Thanks for the reply.
