    Need a Product Recommendation

I'm looking for any recommendations for cleaning products to use in cleaning a BP enclosure's glass walls etc. Just plain old water? Any other stuff that will clean better without harming the snake with fumes after spraying & wiping?

    Thanks again.

    Re: Need a Product Recommendation

The only thing I can seem to find on the petco website is "Zoo Med Wipe Out 1 Terrarium & Small Animal Cage Cleaner"

A local pet store by me may have something else as well - there was a "natural chemistry" brand product that was a basic reptile enclosure cleaner (either "reptile spray" or "healthy habitat" or some name).

okay - i see a gallon on amazon for about $13 - much cheaper than the Novalsan at $53/gal. I assume you mix into a diluted solution and then its safe for pet contact

    Re: Need a Product Recommendation

It's not COMPLETELY safe for contact, but it has a much lower toxicity than bleach. Give it a rinse after using it.
If there is any residue, it won't do any harm. It's used as a skin disinfectant for surgery, and surgical scrub.

If you are JUST looking to clean the glass, and not properly clean and disinfect the cage, then I would recommend just using vinegar and water.

    Re: Need a Product Recommendation

okay thanks. what sort of vinegar? (apple vinegar, balsamic, red wine, etc???) - I'm kinda a newb so I don't want to get the wrong kind and make a snake tank salad!

also what ratio of vinegar to water in the solution?

    Re: Need a Product Recommendation

1 part white distilled vinegar with 2 parts water.

This works fine for all glass surfaces in your home, and is more 'eco-friendly' than using ammonia products. It's safe for use in your snake cage.

Just be sure the cage gets properly cleaned and disinfected regularly.

    Re: Need a Product Recommendation

I use a 3:1 solution of water and simple green, which is pretty strong for simple green. Rinses out easily though with anything, rinse plenty.

I've never asked though, is this acceptable?
