I'm thinking about breeding in the future. I have two normals(as far as I know) that my boyfriend bought on a whim without knowing anything about them. It was the best move for the snakes because they were terribly sick with RIs, mouth rot, rat bites, etc., and needed vet care badly. I want to breed them just because I love this hobby and want more but don't really want to spend any money. Yes I'm cheap! It will be a long time before I do breed. I haven't even built an incubator yet. They are up to size however.
I know most breeders keep their snakes in rack systems without hides. I keep my guys in tubs that are not in a rack and they both have a cat litter pans for a hide because they cruise a lot without one.
1: What do you do when you are breeding snakes that need hides? Should I give them some tough love and get them used to not having a hide now, or should I get a bigger hide that will both be able to fit in?
2: When you introduce a male to a female (or the other way around) you are putting them into a new enclosure, so will they become stressed or will they be too occupied?
3: Does it make a difference on which snake gets moved? Like putting the female in with the male instead of putting the male in with the female?
I want to go about it while causing them a limited amount of stress because they really have been through enough.
