    No More Wobble?

Today me and some friend of mine, were discussing that there is some spiders that have less *wobbles* so if you breed those you'll probably get all the clutch with less wobbling... What do you think about this will it work?

    Hi,

Sadly your basing it on an incorrect assumption.

The amount of wobble seems to be random - spiders with no trace can throw train wrecks and vica versa.

    Re: No More Wobble?

Yes, but high-white pieds can throw low-white pieds, and vice-versa, yet it's generally accepted that it's possible to line breed for either tendency.

I think it's worth a try, especially given the continued popularity of the morph. But it might take several generations to see any real positive effect.

    Re: No More Wobble?

    I must respectfully disagree.

As many years as the Spider morph has been around, don't you think numerous people have tried this? If it were possible to selectively breed it out, it would have been done by now.

Unlike a color morph, the wobble seems to be a genetic defect tied to the Spider gene itself, which is why ANY snake that carries the gene can wobble. Spiders, Bees, etc.

I have also recently heard of non-Spiders who do it, so I don't really believe selective breeding will work.

    Re: No More Wobble?

Having personally talked to Dan Sutherland of TSK inc, he has said that it is just part of the genetics and is basically impossible to get rid of. He has speculated though that the incubation temperature can reduce some of the wobble.

    Re: No More Wobble?

its been proven time and time again. the amount of wobble displayed by the parent(s) has no correlation to the wobble of the offspring.

    Re: No More Wobble?

There's been line breeding attempted to no avail as far as i've heard... It is directly related to the gene so somewhere down the line as far as I'm concerned you will get spiders that wobble... They usually seem to do just fine however and is usually not a big deal at all, still great morphs.
