    Re: Ppython escaped!

i dont know if hes in my room, or if he somehow got into the baseboard heating (even tho i dont think he would and i didnt see any places that exited)

if hes in my room thats one thing, but if hes in my HOUSE thats a major prob. i cant keep checking everywhere

i ordered snake traps, little hide lookin things that have glue stuff on them... but after their stuck u spray with vegetable oil and they come off...

I have no experience with this, but I've never heard of using those traps, and I wouldn't. Sounds messy and there are probably better ways to trap them. Heck, a plain hide sitting along the wall might work better. When I clean, I just put a hide on the carpet nearby and set the snake near it, because I know exactly where he's going to go.

ok that sounds good.. i have about 4-5 hides in my collection all the same ones he has used before.... i will put one on the first floor, one in my bedroom, one in the upstairs hall, and maybe the other 2 each on one floor..... sounds like a good plan. iwill sprinkle flour in front of the hides to see if he actually goes in them

thanks man, good idea. i will put some tuna fish oil on the hides to scent...

    Re: Ppython escaped!

Please don't use glue traps to catch your snake. That stuff is a lot harder to get off than you would think. Plus the snake can suffocate if it sticks to it in the wrong position whole struggling. Look in the same places over and over. Make your way from one side to the other, leaving no place unchecked. Repeat every couple hours and it works every time. It can be very frustrating but you have to be determined. Don't just sit around and wait. Doesn't usually work, plus the longer its out, the higher the risk of accidentally stepping on it, sitting on it, etc.

Try to find warmer spots for the hides if you can. And I've also heard that running a dead mouse along the baseboards is a good way to lure them with scent.

And put out a water bowl while you're at it, and put some flour around it, too.
