Need a computer wiz. Help with volume?
I recently got my computer completely cleaned. COMPLETELY. Everything was deleted, and I started from scratch. I went on youtube to listen to some music and it wasn't working. I tried searching for the volume settings, and couldn't change anything. Also, the little area on the right corner of the task bar (If you keep it on the bottom of the screen) doesn't appear to have the speaker icon to adjust the volume.
What can I do to get my volume to work? Is there anything I can download or am I out of luck?

Start ----> Control Panel -----> Sound. The control panel should be in the bottom right corner after you click on Start. Hope this helps!
EDIT: Oh, you already searched for settings? Sorry, I don't know what else would help.

Sounds like you haven't installed all the necessary drivers for your computer. I would find what kind of sound card you have and go find the correct driver. That should fix your problem. There might also be other drivers that are missing as well.

I was going to say the same thing but R&R beat me to it. I'm 99% positive you don't have all your drivers installed. If you're missing your sound drivers then you're probably missing other drivers as well.
I don't know what kind of PC you have, but if you bought it from Dell all your drivers are available online using your service tag #.

Right click on My computer and go to Manage. Go to Device manager . Look to see if you have any RED X or Question/Exclamation symbols next to any drivers.
These are the ones NOT installed. If this is a pre built from HP and so on, go to their site and search your model number and youll have all drivers you need. Download them and BURN to a cd for future use.

It's most likely the drivers as others have stated but also just double check the settings and make sure "digital output only" isn't checked. Sometimes when I do a clean install that option is selected and I get no sound until it's unchecked.

Thats Motherboard specific depending on which OS you have installed.

yes drivers need to be installed or the speaker icon needs to be added to the task bar. fasted way to check for any sound is to stick a cd in and let windows media player play the disk if you get low dound or limited sound control it just need ot check under the setting and sound to add the icon. if no sound or an error message you need drivers like other say go to the maker of the pc and get them. ifi t was custom then you should have a motherboard disk with al lthe drivers ( out of date ) but enough to get you started.

Sorry but that Sound icon in task bar has nothing to do with anything but adjusting and muting the sound. If its not there then thats a indicator sound is disabled due to drivers issues.
Any problems just PM me or email me if needed. I do this for a living
