Re: Foods you love to hate and hate to love!

    EDIT by JLC:

Matt...if you want to get hit with a rather large infraction, then you go ahead and keep posting about this. I'm sorry if I did not make the last infraction clear enough for you. We do not want to hear about this sort of thing...period.

And ~I~ gave you that infraction...not BPElizabeth. If you have a dispute with a mod, you need to bring it to an admin to discuss it. Bringing it up in public is NOT the way to handle it. But since you did, I'll let you know that I TOLD her to give that other infraction...she did not simply choose to do it because she has some sort of vendetta against you.

My mom makes homemade Fettucini Alfredo that is to die for. It is soooo creamy and good. I think I might call her up today and ask if she could make some tomorrow and invite me over to dinner.

Re: Foods you love to hate and hate to love!

Mine is a jalapeno burger I make. The trick is to mix the peppers in with the beef before grilling them and it brings out the most amazing flavor. I try to take it easy a make some mild burgers for my friends that don't like spicy but sometime I miss. We joke that the burger flavors are mild (can barely taste the peppers) and oh god (raging pepper explosion.)

Re: Foods you love to hate and hate to love!

I would PM you about this, Judy, but I think the whole of the forum should hear about this.

You don't want to hear about that sort of thing? So you're abolishing part of a nation's culture because..? It's gross to you? Unheard of, unsanitary maybe?

I am going to go ahead and label that kind of censoring as discriminating and offensive. I'm trying to spice this thread up (pun intended) a little bit with some interesting culture and I get shot down for posting something interesting.

And I'm sorry for mixing up the infractions; I know for a fact that my other thread could have been worded better but if your censors don't go off, what did I do wrong? I'm sorry that I actually get to see people in the act of making love when field herping (trust me, I'm sorry, it was not very pleasant), but there's no need to infract me subsequently.

Re: Foods you love to hate and hate to love!

Matt, this is a FAMILY FRIENDLY site....a site where children are welcomed and encouraged to participate. A site that parents expect to be safe for them to browse without them having to stop and answer awkward questions. A site where I, as a mother, would not look over my child's shoulder and go wide-eyed and have to ask "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU READING???"

So no....there are certain subjects that we are not going to discuss in public. There are PLENTY of topics that are acceptable or "normal" in some foreign culture or another that would be considered impolite (at best) or abhorrent (at worst) to most other cultures. OUR culture is what we cater to and what we will use to draw our lines about what is acceptable to discuss here. It has nothing to do with judging any culture's beliefs as right or wrong either...just appropriate for discussion around children.

The auto-censor system is NOT what we use to judge infractions...and we have never implied that it is. It is a TOOL to help keep certain obvious words from showing up when they are typed out...nothing more. Even at that, it is an imprecise and imperfect tool for doing that job. It would be utterly impossible to somehow auto-censor out whole sentences or ideas. You are a very intelligent young man, and I have no doubt that you can understand the concept of controlling what you choose to discuss. If you find the family-friendly boundaries of this site too confining for you, I'm sure you will find any number of other sites less restrictive.
