Best bulbs?
I am about pick up some new night bulbs for my bp, any suggestions?
- How many watts?
- Red or black?
- Any brands out there you really like?
Probably thinking about getting a zoo med 50 watt, should be good with the uth pumping out most of the heat for the tank. Just wanna see others preferences/dislikes.

Re: Best bulbs?
The size of the tank dictates the size of the bulb, along with the rooms average ambient temperature.
I preferred CHE's(ceramic heat emitters) when I used overhead heat, they last WAY longer and don't interrupt the night time dark cycle.

Re: Best bulbs?
I'm not really using it for heat, mostly just for night time viewing. The UTH does a great job of heating the tank. The tank is a 20 gallon long and the room (outside of the tank) is usually about 75 degrees.

Re: Best bulbs?
Sounds like a 50-60 watt bulb would be fine.
Make sure the snake has dark time, you don't want it to stress out

Re: Best bulbs?
Cool, thank you. So the night bulbs shouldn't be left on all night?

I make sure my snakes have total darkness at night, I'm not sure what colors they wouldn't see that wouldn't disturb them, maybe someone else...

Re: Best bulbs?
If it is just for viewing then use the lowest wattage blue bulb that you can find.
The higher the wattage, the more it is going to lower your humidity. If you don't need the extra heat then get the lower wattage bulb.
