So, I aquired a new snake a few days ago (free on craigslist), and it has never been sexed. After watching several videos on youtube I decided to try to pop it to determine the sex.

It seems as though they make it look much simpler on the videos than it really is. I tried popping my male first. I figured that would be a good place to start to determine if I was doing it right (I got him from a very reputable breeder, so I am guessing he is sexed correctly). I tried several times, and as far as I can tell he is a female. I'm sure I am just doing it wrong, because white stuff came out (I'm guessing it is sperm? That is what Ralph Davis had happen with one of his males in his video).

So, does the "white stuff" only come out of the males, or could there be some fliuds that would come out when you pop a female as well??

Don't flame me -- I know about the birds and the bees ...just want to know if I am popping incorrectly or if I my snake was sexed wrong by the breeder.

Thanks!!!

Oh, and BTW -- when I popped the new snake, I didn't see any hemipenes either.
