    No, I KNOW I don't read snake minds. But I can make an educated guess why they react the way they do. How can I do this? I've been on this forum reading for almost a year, I've read two ball python books (Written by the best people in the business), and I talk to a bunch of snake owners who have been in the hobby for years.

    They hide their head because they are afraid you are a big monster that is going to eat them. This will most likely go away in time, but right now he's a shy ball python that's still getting used to his environment.
