It will depend on what you are looking for in a boa. In my opinion, the Dums have a nicer pattern and coloring, but the Hoggs will stay a little smaller. The Dums are burrowing snakes and will spend alot of time hiding, at least mine does. I see my BP out at night more than the Dumerils. If you do not give them hides, then you will need to provide about 2"-3" of substrate for them to burrow in, especially when they are younger, or just give them a couple of hides to hang out in. I don't have any experience with Hoggs but I am happy with my decision to get a Dumerils...
