Its very very doubtful that the snake is better without medication. Same with humans, if we get sinus infections there isn't much you can do without taking antibiotics to clear the infection.
What i imaging is happening is by upping the temp/humidity you have just slowed down the symptoms of this infection. And im willing to bet that since your moss is what caused this in the first place. Prolonged damp substrate is a major cause of RI's due to mold and such. RI's are not to be trifled with, they can easily lead to the death of your snake.So please stay on top of this and if you see any of these signs again make a vet appt asap.
So get rid of the moss and invest or make yourself a humidifier(there are posts on this forum how to make one using a 1L coke bottle) throw some saran wrap or a towel on top of the tank and call it a day.
