Why is the first week the hardest?

    And longest.

I got my new BP on saturday and today is wednesday. Its taking soooo long.
I want to let him settle in for the entire week but I'm struggling. Especially because he stays in the coconut all the time, only venturing out to get water or go to the other hide.

I think I'm to used to walking in my room and seeing gregs head poking out to see what all the fuss is that I forgot how long it took him to settle in, and now I'm waiting on the new snake (i believe he's been named herbert) to become more comfortable and relaxed.

Any one else struggle keeping their hands off for the first week or is that a stupid question?

It is a good rule of thunb to allow a week to settle in before handling or feeding, and yes it is / was difficult in the beginning, but I have enough snakes / rodents / geckos, that keep me busy, and I haven't purchased a new snake since last July. I have put myself in time-out on any new purchases lol.

You're excited. It's normal. Don't even worry about it.

Like I said, I think the biggest thing is that the only sign of movement is the new trail between the hot side, cool side and water bowl everyday as i chang out the water daily so i can see the tracks he leaves. THIS WEEK IS TOO LONG lol

I know it's hard, but you gotta stick it out. It's a good sign that he is moving back and forth already to thermoregulate, and not just camping out in one hide...
