    She ATE her babies!

I just went on to check my female mouse and her ten babies, and she killed and ate them!!!

She had enough food, water, and bedding, why would she do that!?

Oh, I am sick to my stomach right about now...

Was it one of her first litters? If so, i have had many mothers eat their first litters. Also if they are breed too much too quickly they will sometimes eat litters.

Sounds like you have a sadistic mouse on your hands.

Yeah, it was her first, or of what I'm assuming is.

ewwwwwwwwwww...sorry but ewwwwwwwww. I don't think I could ever look at her the same.

I was in the store the other day that I get my feeders from. The owner always holds back old breeder mice for me as they are way bigger. He was telling me how when you put 2 male mice together they will go after each others privates so that there is only one able to breed.

    egads....

I know, I can't look at her... She was so sweet! I am so disgusted right now... and they weren't even two weeks old yet!

That's why I call mice snake food. Good luck with the next litter. Hopefully she'll have a change in diet post birth.

    Re: She ATE her babies!

It can happen with their first litters. The problem I've had is with faulty water bottles. Check your water bottles and make sure they can get water out of them, dehydration will make them eat their babies much quicker than anything else will. It's never fun when they eat them
