Bumblebee x Desert Ballpython

This guy comes from our dutch forums, and isn't quite the genetics genius. :p

either way, theres a recessive morph called 'Desert ghost', and a dominant version called 'Desert'.

He doesn't realize that the spider pied only carries a spider head, and a completely white body.

A bumblebee pied also only has a patterned head, on a white base body.
So a desert bumblebee pied would still be a white snake with a colored head.

This is just someone who wants to step into breeding asap, has seen the morphs on pictures but never even handled a ball.

Or bring a new mortgage on your house and try to buy a bumblebee het pied x desert het pied.

i have 3 friends who have ballpythons and a boa wich i handle sometimes and feed.
more then 4 years i hold his ballpython/boa sometimes...
i don't know much about genetics, but that doesn't mean no exprerience
so please shut up if u can't say a useful thing

Just because friends have them, doesn't mean you share their experiences and/or troubleshooting when it comes to husbandry or breeding.

Especially concerning morphs around 3k+ euros.

We have given you certain pointers and tips towards starting the hobby, but I suggest you go and read up on simple genetics as a start.
Also, breeding doesn't come down to throwing animals together and wait for outcome. It takes experience, or better said 'quality time spend with your animals'

Your mixing the Desert and the Desert Ghost up.
The topicstarter is talking about the dominant Desert gene.

Desert is a dominant morph not recessive. He was right on his odds 1/8 for the desert bumble bee. As far as getting a pied desert bumble bee you would need both desert and bumble bee het fir pied first but even then it's a 1/32 chance of getting a snake with all traits

i don't need your OK to own snakes lmao.

I beg to differ.

I'm allready way over your budget buddy. And this isn't just about the money.
What I said and meant was the fact that proper husbandry and knowledge takes time and a certain 'learning curve'.

You start off with 'I want to produce morph xxx' which nobody even made and is well worth over 50k if produced. That's a sign of quick $$ in your eyes and not just starting the snake hobby.

We'll see how 'far' you are in 3 years.

oh and FYI, I'm 22 years old.

maybe i should train with a HOT owner for 20 years before i get a ballpython lol
i'm buying a bumblebee ( 500 $ ) ( female ) i said that i could and will buy what i want.

And why would it die ...
i mean i will keep them in a cold terrarium,
and moist levels will be verry dry.
i will feed it 3 to 4 times a year ...

i did my research,
i even know they don't like water and drink less then 2 times a year.

my setup = 200 cm x 120 cm x 80 cm
no hide ! ( very important )
NO waterbowl ... cuz they hate water

i'm ready dudes !!!

There's your first mistake.

(let me fill you in on a little secret. When having the desire to breed animals 10 million people allready produce, try to get the best possible example of the morph you can find. this way the offspring will look better then those of the competition and you won't have to sell them off for 500$ like Uncle Bob Clark does. ) then again, pretty parents do not always mean pretty offspring. The browning out of the pastel daddy is a good signal tho.

So even if you did manage to find a bumblebee for 500$, it's either hella ugly or late-started.

A nice bumble will run you 800+ euros. And then I mean a NICE bumblebee.

But this wasn't about the money. right?

so money is not why i am doing this ... i want a queenbee and a desert..
3000 $ is not expensive for me, a new car of 30.000 $ starts to get expensive..
