Well, yep. Just in my yard today I found a small snake devouring another.
When it was done, I watched it for a while. Then picked it up with a stick and brought it into a tank to watch and take some pixxx.
After research I found out she was in fact a cornsnake! And a girl
It turns out she isn't so common where I found her, but has been found before. She's definitely a hatchling and devoured an even younger hatchling.
After a few hours, I handled her and she wasn't snappy or even that quick! She did scoot a little, flicking her tongue, and slithering around. I gave her some water in a rock bowl and she drank it up and bathed in it. then she buried under some bedding (wood chips. Recommended, my BP uses it).
I'll upload some pics to try to find out if she's anything special. At this point, I really actually want to keep her. Are wild snakes worth keeping? Can they be "tamed" if handled from a (very) young age? I'm probably going to release her anyways, but I was considering it considering I've always wanted a cornsnake, and heres one with a somewhat perfect temperment. She's not even breathing hard like my BP does when he's scared.
I'm even calling her Rosita now. Luckily I'm not attached quite yet and will of course be willing to look out for her future and release her if neccesary.
