Why is my bp suddenly burrowing?

I use Aspen bedding and she never ever burrowed before until recently, after I changed her bedding. I still use the same kind of bedding but I did lay out more of it throughout her cage; this is when I noticed her burrowing. So she never burrowed until recently when I added more bedding to her cage. Is this why?

Aw, I bet she's just having fun. Ball pythons normally live in pre-existing tunnels and rat dens in the wild, right? So now she's got enough substrate to actually do a bit of her own tunneling.

I figure it's like why kids make snow tunnels after a blizzard. Extra hidey-holes are fun.

More bedding will insulate the UTH more, so she has to dig to get to the heat. I'm assuming a lot about your setup, though.

My normal did that last week, made a mess of his cage and I could not find him, then I seen a small opening in the aspen under his water bowl and there he was! Have had him for about 4 months and this was the first time, He came out to eat though on feeding day! Appears to be fine.

I know this post is a little old now. Is she still burrowing? Adding the more apsen, she is probably just burrowing down to get to the heat from the UTH. Also how big has she gotten? The reason she might not be burrowing until recently is she was light enough to stay on top but the bigger she gets the more she is going to move around the substrate and push it as she goes. Mine never burrwowed when she was samll but she naturally started making more trails in the aspen the bigger she got.
