Red face Breeding your snake to a friends ... Problems?

    Hi everyone,

First of all Do people do this ? ( have u heard of it ? )

Then Imagine you Breed your Bumblebee(female) vs. your friends Normal.
How do u split the morphs ...??
I mean i spent +- 700 $ on a bumblebee and he got his normal for free ...
Then Normals sell for almost nothing and bumblebee's quite allot in comparison.

How would you split the cluth ( or the money ) between you and your FRIEND.
Then again i can't say: you get Nothing! ... he's still your good friend ...
( put yourself in this position and share what you would say/do )

    Thanks for your time
    Peter.

Re: Breeding your snake to a friends ... Problems?

First you arrange ahead of time how to split the clutch.

Since you have the morph and the female and you will incubate the eggs, I'd say you should get more of the clutch and first pick. But there's no way to tell how many eggs she might lay, how many will be good, etc...

I'd work out a percentage. He gets 1/3 of the clutch, you get 2/3. When the babies hatch you'd both stand there and pick out babies and you would get first pick, him second, you third, until he has however many babies equals 1/3 of the clutch, then you get the remaining.

That way he might still get a morph baby, but you get the majority of the clutch. This is only how I would suggest dividing a clutch though, it doesn't matter if he got his snake for free, you don't have a male to breed to. So you need his male to breed to and he thus deserves some sort of percentage of the clutch, unless you just want to pay him a stud fee that he feels is fair.

Whatever deal you two work out, you should both be happy with the agreement AND put it in writing before you breed. If it's 50/50 or he gets one baby, or whatever. Work it out first, write it down second, THEN breed.

since he has the male im going to assume he will be doing non of the work. You have the morph and the female. Hes lucky if he gets anything, a good friend would let you borrow there male for a breeding project and hope you through a snake his way at the end.

I personally wouldn't bother with percentages and splitting the clutch. I would offer a set fee- like a reverse stud fee.

Re: Breeding your snake to a friends ... Problems?

Did this particular breeding take place or is it planned?
Most cases someone with a high end morph would not partner up with someone with a normal male for several reasons. First of all you can buy a ready to breed normal male for less than 50 bucks anywhere. Why agree to split a valuable clutch with someone who has contributed so little to the partnership? Most of the time when people do something like this both have high end animals and both parties benefit.
If you are doing this only because it's your friend(if so you are a awesome friend) then your friend shouldn't expect any % percentage of the clutch. Depending on what hatches I would give him a spider or pastel. If the clutch was huge and the odds were good I might give him both but I would not give him a bee.

Re: Breeding your snake to a friends ... Problems?

    Hi,
    Thanks guys.

This has not happened or has been planned.
I was just wondering because it came up in a conversation here,
and i was thinking about it and i was like .... i can't give away a super snake,
while he didn't actually put annything in the whole proces.

but i could live with Offering/giving him a pastel or a spider tho ...
    but not a bumblebee xD
I think i also would buy a second snake to pair it up to.
Although i don't want to have to manny snakes after a few years :p

I wouldn't bother breeding a male normal to a morph... buy a pastel or a cinnamon and go for a triple...

I agree, Unless she was a dinker and you would be trying to prove her out. But that is not the case.

You can get a nice pastel male for like $100 now days. If you want BADASS looking Bee's I would recommend a fire Male

I'd offer him a normal which is what he contributed. If he does not agree then I would just go & get another normal which are a dime a dozen if that is what you want to breed your bee to. Your better off getting another morph male. Business with freinds or family don't always mix well.

    1.1 Normal bp
