Possible Calico Pastel?!?
Hey All,
I frequent these forums alot, because I have recently started building up my snake collection, and this site is full of great info involving breeding/husbandry for BP's. About a month ago, I purchased a breeder male pastel for $100. Well tonight, I took him over to my buddy's place, whom also breeds reptiles, and he told me that he looked sort of calico too. Ive always thought my pastel was a bit different from the rest, but since my knowledge of BP's is no comparison to his, I went along with it. We then googled what a Pastel Calico looks like, and sure enough, he looks almost identical to some of the ones in the images we saw. Im posting pics to maybe get a different voice of opinions. Please let me know what you guys think.
Dont pay attention to the fact Ive made one post!
Oh, these pictures are very recent, and he is in shed currently. His Yellows are alot brighter than what these pictures show. And these were taken from my iPhone.

He looks pretty cool, but he does not look like a Pastel Calico. Pastel Calicos tend to have crazy "patterns". I'd say he's a nice Pastel.
I like the high-yellow sides seen in the first three pictures, though. I'd like to see pics of him once he sheds.

Re: Possible Calico Pastel?!?
i would just call that a pastel. don't get me wrong though. its a good looking pastel. but it doesn't look like a pastel calico in the picture.
who produced it? i'm sure if it was a calico pastel the person who bred it would have sold it as one.

I see why he might have said that. Not a pastel Calico, but if his color looks like that on those spots in shed, then they must be crazy out of it. Ive never seen that before where a mature adult pastel whos browning is complete, haveing random patches of all bright yellow pattern.
Id love to see more pictures out of shed of the parts in question Thats worth Dinking around with itself, what were the parents? Could be a Paradox...

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Re: Possible Calico Pastel?!?
I got it from a lady who had to get rid of her collection. She got it from either a pet store or another person. I will post more photos once he sheds. Im not sure who the breeder is, but hes one remarkable looking snake. If you held him up to a normal looking Pastel you'd be blown away from the difference.
Thanks for the info so far!

Re: Possible Calico Pastel?!?
it is an older looking pastel who seems to have started to brown out a bit but its still a very good looking pastel. i think those marks are just the coloring being a crazy pattern. try breeding and see what happens
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Doesn't look like a calico pastel, they are stunning & quite a lot different to your lad. He's a very nice snake in his own right though, lovely looking pastel.

Re: Possible Calico Pastel?!?
He's not even full grown yet! Nah he doesnt have a stuck shed! =) I have been pairing him up with my normal for the last month or so that Ive had him. Ive got him on a 3/3 rotation. Hes definately an aggressive breeder. I cant wait to see what the babies look like! Im going to contact the lady whom I got him from today, and see if I can trace it back to the pairing that he came from.
