Let's see, this week while at work it was...
One Kingsnake (juvenile), two Gambel's Quail (newly hatched) and three Bull/Gophersnakes. Last week I was dealing with just two Bullsnakes. The quail I gave over to the rehab group here as they know all about 'em. The King we have (so far) as his/her markings are quite different than the Kingsnakes we usually find here. Kind of a cream yellow/green color and lots of it. I'll try to take some pics this weekend. One Bullsnake was a repeat visitor (yes, after a while we can disinguish who's who) and the other two "new cruisers" and were re-released nearby.
In case anybody is wondering, I work two jobs (60hrs/wk) at two different locations here and we get our fair share of critter activity. So far this year I've handled five Bullsnakes, and three Kingsnakes. Not bad so far considering our snake seasons starts running in the latter part of March. Seems to be more Bullsnakes so far this year than the last few. No Western Diamondbacks yet but last year I removed four or five of 'em and had the time of my life getting tagged eight or nine times by a black Coachwhip! He was sunning in front of the apartment complex mailboxes on the concrete slab. 'Bout 3-4 feet long. The complex calls us whenever a resident sights a snake on property. Better to relocate it than to have them chucking rocks at 'em or running them over and over again with their Toyota Landcruisers like one girl was doing one year to a six foot Bullsnake.
I have pics of the WDB on the puter here I'm just too lazy right now to post them!
Just thought I'd share.![]()
