    were keeping him in a 20L right now and we have a stick on on the cool side, and we have a round therm. on the other side but its not placed directly on the glass and measures the air temp.

    You will want to get some new thermometers then. Those ones are very inaccurate. I would recommend getting the accurite weather station from the home depot, lowes, or walmart. It is about $12 and measures cool side, hot side with a probe, and ambient humidity. It is all you need in one unit

    You want to place the probe on the glass under the substrate over the heater so you know the hottest possible temperature the snake can get to. And don't say he won't get to it, because these animals seem to do everything we think they can't or won't.
