The pastels babies with very faded heads, not much orange color and bright yellows seem to retain yellows the best. But still, you never really know....

Line breeding is very important when it comes to pastels, looking at a picture of the parents always helps.

Also pastels go through an "ugly hatchling" stage. It's not easy ending up with an adult bright pastel, and the people that do are very lucky!

I agree, most snakes brown out, some more than others. there are so many basic morphs that look great as hatchlings but not as adults. I'm into the fire gene. which when combine with other morphs does so much to prevent this.
