I say try it out for a week or two and if the snake is having feeding problems, downsize to a small 6qt tub. I have a feeling you won't have too much of a problem with the large enclosure though. Just make sure there is enough hides, lots of cover, and the back and sides are covered with dark paper. The main issue with big tanks is that they make it difficult to keep proper temps and humidity levels. Generally you will be stuck with a humidity draining lamp just to maintain adequate ambient temperatures.

Just a note though, your snake should have two identical hides. One for the warm side and one for the cool side.

Also, climbing the walls is him trying to find a way to escape which can also sometimes be a sign of stress.

I just added an identical hide on the cool side last night. I also purchsed some hoppers, live and frozen. I guess I just have two last questions for you helpful people. I am having difficult with temp/humidity, the lamp is part of the problem but so is my Air Conditioner as the terrarium has lots of ventilation (front vent, and screen top). What do you think of this: block off 1/3 - 1/2 of screen top to reduce temp loss caused by cool room temp as well as hold in some humidity and add another large UTH on the cool side? I have a Spyder Robotics Pro arriving anytime now which could control both of the UTH - keep the hot side 90-95 and cool side 80-85. Would this be a good idea to eliminate or reduce the use of the lamp and increase humidity? also, First feeding tonight or tomorrow - should I start with live, fresh killed, or f/t?
