Just wondering what the temperament is like with a dumerils boa.

Re: dumerils temperament
Dumeril's boas have very mellow temperaments and make awesome pets for beginners. My girl is as sweet as can be and I couldn't be happier with her.
They mostly all have pretty mellow temperaments, although I see most of them dislike their tail being touched. They will slither a lot faster if you touch their lower body and their tail from what I've noticed.
I haven't been bitten by a Dumeril's though, haven't really ran into any moody ones.

Re: dumerils temperament
I've never had a bad temperment with my dumerils. My girl is good. she at first is a little jumpy when I first place my hand on her, but settles down right away. never been hissed at, huff and pufed at, or even struck at.
My male is good unless it is feeding time. once I give him his food I have to cover his tank. otherwise he just strikes at the glass anytime someone walks by as if he's protecting his food.

They have fantastic temperaments. As long as someone is prepared for a 6-8ft snake they are fantastic animals and I would highly recommend them.

I thought that was just my male. He won't eat if I'm in the room. He will lay there like he is guarding his food, but as soon as I leave the room, he will usually eat within a few minutes... interesting...

Re: dumerils temperament
One of the best starter boas you can get, very awesome temperment. Good feeding responses for the most part, but that's a boa for you anyways.
I highly recommend it!

Re: dumerils temperament
I had 7 adults a bit ago and they were all really tame but 2 had crazy feeding responses and if you just stuck your hand in there you would get bit. the one female was crazy, if i even moved the water bowl by her face she would go for it.
I'm not your friend buddy!
