    Thermostat Advice

K so I purchased a thermostat when I set up my tub for my snake, but now that I'm looking at getting more snakes I'm wondering if what I have is sufficiant.

I have the Reptitemp 500R right now, it was cheap and I know you get what you pay for, I was just wondering... Should I upgrade when I get a second snake? I've contemplated upgrading anyway because I don't like the dial that it has, its so uncontrolled... I purchased the thermostat to control temps and then my control is "Max" or "Min" with a colored sticker on it....

Just wondering what you guys think, is what I have going to be sufficiant if I had 3 or 4 snakes? And if not any suggestions on good ones that arent going to cost me an arm and a leg. My budget is really what ever I think is reasonable... I'd prefer not to spend 150+ but 100 dollars or so is fine.

I got a reptitemp for my first snake, and before I picked up my second snake I bought a johnson controls thermostat from reptile basics.

You need to quarantine the new animal anyway so you will need an extra thermostat.

Hmm, are you keeping them in a rack system? If you use flexwatt that is all cut to the same length you don't need another thermostat.

That depends on your method of quarintine, obiously if your two racks are in the same room then if your flex watt is all the same wattage then you can use a single thermostat, but a lot of people try to do there quarintine in a differnt room but not all of us have that option,

To the op i have one of the thermostats your using and it all depends on how much flexxwatt your using and the wattage but you should be able to make that work but its not the greatest so check it often you wouldnt want to come home to dead snakes cause your thermostat failed, spend 50-75 bucks and get a johnson or a ranco it has a digital display and then you can use the tstat you already have as a failsafe

I would upgrade to a better thermostat when you get your second snake
