    Just need some info please.

I have a few questons and have asked pet stores and got different answers from them so any help will be appreciated.

If i would have known that i was going to get him i would have a better set up. Now i know my setup right now is not what is need for him but as of right now i have a 10 gallon tank with a heat lamp i would have a heating pad but the pet stores were all out of them.

    1) What do you guys use for bedding? I have been told to use newspapers.

    2) How big will he get? I have been told anywhere from 3 to 8 feet long.

    3) How big of a tank will he need when he is full grown? I was looking at 20 gallon longs today.

    thanks for all the help.

I would go with a 41qt tub with a uth and a tstat. Better heating and holds temps and humidity better.

    What he said ^^^^^
A male BP will reach 2 and a half to 3 and a half range and a female will hit 4 easy but there have been females hit 5-6 foot before, but never hear of a 8 foot BP unless it was a Hybrid( BP cross with other Python species.

Re: Just need some info please.

    I believe this may help.

I don't think anybody here trusts pet stores, but you seem pretty well informed. As for bedding, common things seem to be newspapers (easy to clean), paper towels (same), and aspen (easy to spot clean, a bigger deal to fully clean, holds humidity better). There's also coconut shavings (which I think hold moisture really well in case that's a problem), and reptibark (again, something about humidity here; I think it's prettiest).

As for enclosures, people rave about tubs for being easy to maintain as was mentioned. If you decide to continue with the tank (which is a perfectly valid option, just may be a little harder to keep stable conditions), a 20 long seems to be the standard recommendation. These snakes hardly ever leave their hides, so you'll probably never even see the darn thing in it's cage. Someone recently called them "pet rocks that occasionally eat a small rodent."

    Enjoy.
