males can start to brred at 5 weeks. but you might want them to get alittle more up to size, maybe 200g.

females at least 4-5 months and a weight of at least 250g-300g
    1.1 het pied
    1.1 butter
    1.0 lemon pastel yellow belly
    0.1 lemon pastel
    and the addiction begins!

    feeders(rats) - breeders(1.9) very happy male!
    feeders(mice) - 2.5 breeders

Well there is sexually mature and than there is optimal for breeding.

By age 5 weeks rats are sexually mature.

The optimal breeding weight for females is around 250 grams, I really don't go by age I simply start pairing them when they reach that weight, takes a while to reach that weight but definitely not 4 to 5 months , usually by 2 months old the females have reach 250 grams.

Males well you have to use common sense at 5 weeks they are ready however if the size difference between the male and the female is too big the male is just gonna get beat up.

Mine are usually breedable at 2 months or so also, I don't keep track of age either. I pretty much go by: once they hit the size they can't be eaten by my 1000 grams and under, then they are breeders So that puts them at about 3+ months old when they have their first litter. 4-5 months would be almost full grown. They can start breeding around small/medium size depending on your definitions.

12 weeks is the minimum that I would wait.

16 weeks assures that they are fully developed and big enough.

    Its really up to you.

If you want to breed them younger than 12 weeks they may not conceive or they may have smaller litters.

    Its a gamble.

I'll agree with that. Some of my girls don't take for a month or two after they have been with the males. Then others will take right away and give me a litter of 13 the first time. BUT, I've only been holding back females from moms that have been giving me big litters at young ages. 3 generations in a row I've had the first time moms give me 13. It's weird, but I'm really liking my girls.
