    Cool missing feeder.....

okay so last friday i bought 2 feeder mice live of course because thats all my bp is taking as of now and i had to buy 2 because they were pretty small so i planned on feeding her both well it turns out that the second mouse was crazy and wouldnt even give my bp a chance to strike at her so i took the mouse out and put it in a "kritter ceeper". and placedit on my windowsill and went to sleep........ i wake up the next morning to finnd the top of the "kritter ceeper" chewed up with a big hole in the top so i just figured it cant be to far of untill i looked all over and found nothing but poop all over but no mouse. im guessing that it had took a crazy jumpto freedom and is somewhere in my house right now....... so my question to you is have you ever lost a moue in your house, and if so did you find it and how did you find it.... oh and annother main factor is that im only 17 and still live with my mom so if she finds this thing before i do shes gunna freak out and try to make meget rid of my snakes =[...... so please help!!!!!!

its 4:30am now and she wont be up until probably around 9-10 am

    thanks,
    mike

    Re: missing feeder.....

I've lost a mouse, and a couple of small rats before. I usually check places that are cluttered like my closet, in storage areas, behind appliances, etc. Listen for scuffling when you dig through stuff. Mice are a lot harder to find than rats (obviously). If you can't find it I'd suggest setting up some mouse traps using peanut butter as the bait... mice and rats love peanut butter.

I've found all of my escapees.. but we have 3 cats so they tend to gather around where the rodent is, making it really easy to find them.

    Re: missing feeder.....

I had a few "escapees" more of rats that jump out of the tubs when being fed, when I do I let my dog in the room and she can find any escapee in no time, she will lead me right to their hiding spot and all I have to do is retrieve the rat.

If you have a dog try that maybe it will give you an idea or where the feeder is hiding, if not put some traps.

    Re: missing feeder.....

Congrats! I hate it when they escape, so far none of my escapees have gone terribly far though

yea i had no clue that they could chew through stuff that hard.... i mean i bought a "kritter keeper" thats meant for housing rodents and it chewed out of that...... now whats the point of that? i should right a letter telling them to make stronger cages lol

    Re: missing feeder.....

I actually just had this problem the other night. I had some weaned mice in a kritter keeper (I'm still putting their tub together) and my husband went into the animal room to feed the bird and sure enough, 3 had escaped! Somehow he found and caught all 3 and put them back in the kritter keeper and taped up the hole. They are now secure in a 10g tank but I know how you feel about your mom finding out. My mother-in-law would flip if she found loose mice running around the apartment.
    Under Construction.....
