Boa question

I was wondering, if I was to get a boa without IBD could it randomly get IBD.Sorry if this is a stupid question just worried about my pythons

No, it's a virus so the boa would have to be exposed to it. Buy from a reputable breeder and you won't have to worry much about IBD. That being said remember to always quarantine any new snakes.

Andrew is correct, but a Boa can also be a carrier without showing any signs of IBD. You wouldn't know until the boa infected your pythons which succumb pretty fast to the disease. This is why it's important to quarantine as well as buy from a reputable breeder.

IBD is always a risk. Boa constrictors are asymptomatic carriers, and can go for years appearing to be perfectly healthy. Even if a boa is not exhibiting symptoms, pythons can still catch IBD, and infected pythons deteriorate much more quickly than boas. As has been said, the safest bet is to buy from a reputable breeder and then follow strict QT procedures.

Dave Colling, no question about it! He's got some of the nicest boas out there, all in peak health. I purchased a little BCI from him a while back; she's in excellent health, has never refused a single meal, is very docile, calm, relaxed, and is turning out to be absolutely stunning!!
