I did something similar to two of my tanks. I was using 2 of those heavy Zilla cave hides. I'm holding the snake in one hand, scooping out poop with the other hand. When I finished, I reached down, picked up the hide one-handed, and proceeded to drop it through the bottom of the tank. About 2 months later, in a moment of haste, history repeated itself.
