Do snakes get lonely?
hello to all!! i was just wondering if snakes get lonely? also i want to thank everyone here for being so nice and answering questions for us. we have had our bp for 1 wk now and am enjoying her/him so much. i finally hold her without my stomach doing flip flops. lol i cant believe i didnt do this a long time ago. we would eventually like to get another bp but not sure if it would be ok to put 2 in one space.

Re: Do snakes get lonely?
Ball pythons are solitary creatures in general anyhow. They don't need or want a "buddy" to keep them company. While it's technically possible to keep two in the same enclosure, they tend to thrive much better kept separate.

Thank you! So if we do want another one, it would be better to get a separete housing. I think she/he is getting use to me. She/he didnt jump back away from me like she usually did. Of course, im sure she/he can feel that im not so scared of her/him either. everyone i know thinks we are crazy for a having a pet snake. lol we have 3 kids that love it too. i am really hooked.

Yeah, they're addicting little creatures! It's really hard to keep just one.

Re: Do snakes get lonely?
I've had my girl for 2 weeks now. =D She's so cute! I love her mucho! She's also rather funny to. XD I already want another. For my next, I know I want a morph of some kind. I'd LOVE to get my hands on a piebald, with half and half. But I doubt I'd be able to afford one. I also like the pinstripe, fire, mojave, clown, ect. I'm not so attracted to the pastels for what ever reason. But I'm sure in time I will, just because when I first started looking at ball morphs, I feel in love with the piebald, and didn't care for much else, but now that's changed. XD
I enjoy handeling Kafusu, she's just funny watching her move all around on my hand and try to move up my arm, but she doesn't seem to get just yet, she needs to wrap around my arm to, so she kinda flops over. It's just so cute. I catch her though, so no worries. I'm addicted now also. hehe.

Only humans get "lonely."
And maybe dogs.
Typically, an animal that is not self aware does not know or understand an emotion you call "loneliness." There are only a few self aware animals; humans being the most obvious, bottle nosed dolphins, some apes, and maybe one or two more.
Emotions are generally not a factor.

Re: Do snakes get lonely?
I think they generally want to be left alone. They put up with being handled because they have sweet dispositions which makes them so apealing. I got hooked and at first liked the high contrast albinos. Now I really like the super pastels, clowns type. My wife gave me hard time with 1 snake getting another is going to be a hard sell. My 7 year old loves our normal and is the only reason I've gotten away with it so far.
