hatchling question
so its been almost a week since my first clutch hatched out. can I offer them food soon or should I wait until they shed?

Hi,
I would wait until they shed and probably for about 5 days after that as well.
They should be fine living off the yolk they absorbed just before leaving the egg.

Most dont offer until after the first shed like Derek said. Some breeders will offer a couple days out of the egg but thats what the yolk is for. They are fine for weeks as long as they absorb the yolk and come out nice and fat. Offer a day after the first shed and they are more likely to take it.

Agree with everything said. Give them time. You don't need to rush them to food.

I have heard that a hatchling snake's stomach is delicate, and at a week old, they are probably still absorbing the yolk. If they have a decent amount of yolk still left, and they are fed, it could do way more harm than good.
So, I always wait until a couple of days after their first shed.
