Things I've Learned from the Internet

    1) It's not serious business. If you take it seriously, you will end up with many many grey hairs and possibly an ulcer.

    2) People are jerks. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't, but they can be. Take everything said with a grain of salt. Maybe they just got dumped, or they had a bad can of beans, but its more than likely not about you.

    3) Writing out things (aka Typing) can be completely misconstrued. So don't take it personally.

    4) Just because someone doesn't respond to you immediately doesn't mean that they are ignoring you. They are more than likely just out in real life.

    5) Just because someone types "Beautiful" or "That's really cool" doesn't mean that they are your friend, or that they even mean it. They may just be trying to bump their post count.

    6) Trolls exist. They suck, and they are out to get you all riled up. Don't let them have the satisfaction, unless you are willing to put in the emotional effort and time just to be disappointed.

    7) Other peoples opinions exist. And you cannot convince some people that they are wrong. No matter what you do.

    8) You can and will form true friendships in real life from the internet. You just have to meet them in real life to make it happen.

    9) Real life is more important than the internet. Really. I promise. Go out and take a look for yourself.

    10) THE INTERNET IS A GREAT TOOL. Just don't get overwhelmed by it or too lost in it, or you will be lost yourself.

Just a few words brought to you by Heather.

    I just have to add to the;

Txt doesnt carry inflection for the most part. Its easy to completely miss-interpret someone when you cant hear them/see body language and facial expression.

It doesn't take much effort to give someone the benefit of the doubt until you're sure .

    I disagree!
I have internet friends that I've had for.. 3-4 years now.. and I talk to them online and on the phone all the time. Never met them in real life, but they're still really good friends.

Some of the people I worked with are so addicted and serious about Facebook, they actually don't see how I can live without an account...

I really don't understand why some people haven't figured this out yet.

Re: Things I've Learned from the Internet

The internet IS serious business though. For the average person that uses it for FaceBook and email, it's probably not. But there are hundreds of billions of dollars invested in internet technology. Internet ad revenue far surpasses that of TV and print ad.

Peoples jobs and lives depend on it, so it's serious.

Completely agree with the other statements except for the having to meet someone online to form a true friendship. Some of them I have actually met in person, but the rest of them I converse over the phone. Guess there are different definitions for true friends, but I have an internet friend that sends me gifts on my birthday, calls my daughter on her birthday and does other things that some of my real friends don't even do.

    LOL.

The internet is serious BUSINESS in terms of business. Absolutely.

I understand where you are coming from, and I do agree to a point as to the friendship thing.

    I was being general.

WOW you could have said that Ice Cream is a fantastic treat and there would be those to find fault with your statement. Which of course proves everything you said to be true. Once again heather wisdom well said.
