Buying lots of F/T mice?

OK I have a bit of a problem right now. I am calling around to find some cheaper mice but I am running into places like Petsmart and petco. They charge like $2.50 per mouse!!

I know I can save a lot of money if I buy online. But the problem is I would want something like hoppers for my corn and full grown for my BP. I was looking around and it seems that hoppers come in bags of 100. That is almost 2 years of mice for my corn. He will outgrow the hoppers before they are gone.

My fiance asked if we could feed 2 times per week. I explained I do not want a fat snake.

Oh and we only have the freezer above the fridge and that is normally pretty full so I am trying to figure out storage room. I want to buy a small chest freezer but do not have the money for it at this exact moment.

So anyone with some suggestions. Or maybe you know of a place that sells smaller amounts. I could see getting 50 hoppers maybe but not 100.

They seem pretty good. Shipping is a pain in the butt but they will let you mix and match orders for the amount you desire. I do suggest buying in bulk though to make the hefty shipping fees worth it.


Also I know everyone has said this but look out for reptile shows in your area.

No they do not sell hoppers in a bag of 50. But the next up "Weanlings" come in a bag of 50.

If you got them u can always pick and choose the smallest out of the bag until he grows into eating them all if hes about to outgrow hoppers?

Now mind u buying a bag of frozen mice u pay like $50 shipping. idk if you knew that or not.

So lets do the math.

$2.50 x 50 mice = is $125

Thats assuming ur paying $2.50 per mouse at the pet store

Bag of 50 weanlings is $20 + 50 shipping comes out to $70

Now let me tell this its $50 to just ship one box. Say u add a bag of 50 weanlings and a bag of large adults ur shipping will still be $50

So it makes sense if you can to buy more then one bag.

But if you got just one snake then maybe not. Either way in the long run you save around $55 thats not including your time/gas money to goto the pet store

Also on another note where do you live? A lot of times there are people who vend at local reptile shows selling frozen feeders. Rodent pro comes to the one in Columbus and Cleveland so i dont pay shipping and the feeders are good quality.

ask around at your next local expo, i know with the lady i get my feeders from i email her a couple days b4 the show and when i get there she has my order already boxed up for me. i can order any amount i want in any way and best thing is no shipping charge, it cost $5 to get in but id be there anyway.

Well thank you everyone for your replies. I know several of you said to check out local reptile shows. I live in Minnesota and unfortunately shows here are unheard of except the recent one that is bi-annual or something.

Think what I need to do is keep my eyes open for some local mom and pop pet store and see what their prices are like. Thanks again for your replies.

post on your local craigslist or kiji or something, a lot of times there are a few people in your area that are looking for feeders and you guys can go in on a bulk order or something, save on shipping and whatnot.
