educating my daughter
my daughter is apprehensive about me getting a ball python. so far ive told her about ball pythons a little bit in the way that they dont usually bite, but instead curl up into a ball when they're scared. i tell her what i plan on doing as far as handling. i wont let her watch the feeding process because that would be traumatizing for her to see. i want her to be comfortable around the snake so what else can i say to her to make her a bit less apprehensive?
is this something thats gonna take experience & time?

I bet you once she gets used to holding it she will fall in love. Sometimes just holding them is enough to get you hooked

Re: educating my daughter
my 5 yr old son is aware that there will be a snake here cuz ive told him & he knows it'll be kept in the cage in our room and every day he wants to see it. lol he doesnt understand that its gonna take time. i have to buy all the stuff first. i know he'll be super excited when the snake is finally home. he has no fear, he'd be happy to play with any snake he finds outside completely unaware if its dangerous or not...he's got no clue. but my daughter is 8 and is aware that some snakes are dangerous so she's apprehensive of them. i guess it will just take time being with the snake & seeing for herself that it's not dangerous. thanks

Good luck.
One thing I noticed is you will NEVER convince someone to give snakes a chance by just talking about it.
Showing the snake live and holding it while its being chill and docile usually goes a long way. That way, they see with their own eyes how calm and collected the snake is and how harmless it is.
I just bought my snake, and am in the process of convincing my best friend to at least be in the same room with it. 27 year old guy and he is petrified lol. But i can tell its not an actual phobia as its just he has been told since birth that they are evil creatures..
Thanks alot Catholicism...lol

Re: educating my daughter
One thing I've noticed is that people tend to respond to the way you approach it. I have them delivered to the her to the place I worked for. The girls there were terrified, after a few time of seeing me handle them from a distance they would slowly get closer and closer till a couple of them wanted to touch it. After a while they were as excited to see what I'm getting delivered as I was. Now they get upset if they can't hold the new babies when they come in..
Your comfort and calm "this is no big deal" attitude will go light years to help her calm down. Go slow..my wife is still terrified of them but she does like to see the "Pretty ones"

I dont think anyone was saying anything bad (or good for that matter) about religion. Just the mention and correlation between a certain religion and a fear of snakes from said religion.
Or is it just straight up against forum policy to even say the word religion? Just curious as I am new around these parts
