what is your room temp with your tubs/racks?

i am getting either a ball or a nicaraguan boa this weekend, and i already have a tank set up. temps are all good, everything is dandy. (20L for a baby)

i really want to do a tub tho, so i went an bought a tub, brought it home and set it up. drilled holes, thermostat, the works. problem is my room temp is around 72-74 degrees in that room. and unless i move 4 of my animals i cant raise the temp. my ambient temp in my tub wouldnt get above 75, even with another UTH on it. so tubs out, ill use it for feeding. but id still like to know what the ambient room temp is? once i can get it figured out with the wife on where to stick the lil geckos ill heat the room and do a rack setup, and a hotter room would definitely help with my darn beardie! thanks a bunch!

Hmm that seems weird. What is your UTH set at?

My snake room is in the basement and it stays areound 70 degrees year round, although I heat it in the winter months.

Re: what is your room temp with your tubs/racks?

i actually plugged the uths straight into the wall without using my tstat just to see how hot i could get it. ambient never broke 75-76. i believe its because the tub was just out in the open, maybe if i had a rack setup it would work better.gotta see how i like my first snake im gettin this weekend before i invest in a rack! thanks for the help

Just got ball pythons as well and my outside ambient temps are around 72-76F, I have two rows of holes on each side of the tub. Inside the tub the temps are 75-80F on the cool side and anywhere from 88-91F on the hot side. I would just set up the tub and see what needs to be tweaked (more holes, less holes, raise/lower tstat setting etc.)

Re: what is your room temp with your tubs/racks?

The room temp is about 75 and the ambient tub temp is usually 79 or above. It goes up a few degrees in the summer when I have an exaust fan in the window of that room but I regulate it with the house A/C if it gets too hot.
