Maintaining heat?
I don't know where really to put this question but figured someone would scoot me around to the right place. I think I already know the answer but just wanted to double check. I live in Northern Ohio, I have a detached garage that is approx 20x20 and was wondering if during winter time while it was insulated and the heat of some BPs would be enough to keep the garage warm enough for the BPs to live through the winter? Space I don't have a lot of inside the house, the garage on the other hand houses 2 motorcycles a weight bench and some paint, lol. So I don't know if it would be possible to use no additional heat to maintain a warm enough temp through winter.

Re: Maintaining heat?
I would say absolutely not. A lot of the people here (especially in colder climates) that have their BP's in their heated homes still have a snake room/closet that is heated with a seperate space heater. I live in Delaware and it can get quite cold here. I so not yet own a BP, but based on everything I have read, I will be working on creating space in a small room where I can add a space heater to keep temps up for them. My house gets down to 68 degrees at night and during the day when no one is home, BP's can't tolerate temps that cold. Maybe you could enclose an area of the garage, add a space heater and keep the BP's in there? Hope this helps.

Re: Maintaining heat?
If you can keep your ambient temps above 76 degrees but they should really be above 78 you can put them where ever you want.

I never thought about sectioning off a small part... dunno how that just skipped my mind, lol Thanks so much

Re: Maintaining heat?
Yeah, I have a small storage room in the basement that is about the size or a walk in closet (maybe 6'X8'). We are going to clean it out and add a door and that will be snake room. That's what gave me the idea of sectioning off an area of the garage, it can't be that much to heat an area that small. Add some extra insulation and that'll help even more. Hope it works out for you.
