You will LOVE Android! Like anything new it takes a bit of learning but man...LOVE IT!

A few app suggestions:
AppBrain - really makes searching for apps easy, it syncs your phone app list to your pc too.
Astro file manager - a nice little tool for backups and sd file
Shazam - music tag, works well
Ringdroid - make your own ringtones and notifications
AK notepad - nice, simple little notepad
Those are just some that I like. Have fun with the apps though! haha

I have a Droid and don't know how I lived without it all these years!

OH...see if you can wrangle a Google Voice number too, free texting! Whoot! It does a lot more than that but that's the main draw for me
