No, I don't plan on paying that much for it! LOL I will argue and get it marked down a lot. I normally would never buy any reptile from a petsmart, petco, petland etc etc. But I want to get him out of there, and he doesn't look half bad. Otherwise I'd definatly purchase my snake from someone I know has high quality animals.

I wonder what petco pays for young boas, I bet the markup is intense.
They probably only paid like 30 bucks for it, honestly, either that or it was brought in by another customer who didn't want it. Usually how it works at pet stores.

If it's the petco I'm thinking of and the boa I'm thinking of, totally go for it. He's gorgeous, and looks healthy for a petco. But petstore animals need homes too!

    I agree with Walt,

And I must say you never know really what's wrong until the snake is brought home.

That's normally how it works for me LOL, my second BP had mites and I never noticed until I handled him one day. A little JurassiMite fixed it up in about a week.

But if you really do want him, check for every sign possible LOL. You can check for RIs without opening the mouth too, like pulling down the bottom lip on the side of the mouth and checking for any mucus bubbles. If it's all clear your good with that (don't forget to check both sides!) but still listen up for popping/clicking. If the snake is whistling it could be stuck shed/about to go in shed, but still keep a close eye.

Mites like the head area, so check under scales on the head and neck. I normally spot them underneath the snake like on the jaw/neck area.

Hey, just to be on the safe side why not fly CoolioTiffany and I out of Phoenix and we can thoroughly scope him out for ya! We don't eat much and are toilet trained and everything!

On a serious note, particularly if the manager 'just wants to get rid of him' then the price should drop quite a bit. We got Mr. Biggles from a local pet store whom I'm sure somebody gave up and we adopted him up at the reptile show here in Tucson where the store had a display. We got him for $50. and at the time he was about 5 1/2 feet long. He's now pushing towards 8' in just 2 years. Eats like a horse. I have the bills from buying jumbo rats to prove it too! Ugh. There goes the budget...

Which petco are you thinking of? Because I have never seen a boa as nice as that in a petco, like ever! LOL.

He will be getting a full body look over from me once I get in there, trust me, I won't just walk in there and take him. I don't need my babies at home catching something, haha.

Hahaha. I work at a petstore, but a family owned place that is a lot different than all those franchises. I am sure they will go down on his price, they know i've been checking in on him weekly !

I will remind you that she said that her ex is looking at him. So basically she's forced to buy him because you never let the ex end up with something you want.

Seems a bit expensive, but I say that if you look him over and he looks and acts healthy, you should just go for it. If you are almost sure you are going to get it, then just go and get it, and DONT let your ex get it before you!
