I do have to admit that those "true" sand boas with the eyes on top of their heads are a bit freaky and interesting looking

Re: Sand Boas
I've always loved sand boas. Not sure I'd ever own one but never say never.
That one is VERY pretty.

Re: Sand Boas
Ive always loved sand boas. The first time I ever saw Beetlejuice I said OH MY GOD! The sand worms look like like sand boas!! My friends thought I was nuts but I liked the beetlejuice sand worms and thought they were cute because of that.

Re: Sand Boas
I bought a new adult female Kenyan sand boa on Saturday at a show, and I haven't seen her since then, haha. I have to say, I love her! It's so different to hold one compared to a python or even a colubrid, they don't grip on you whatsoever.
Just 0.1 normal BP, 1.0 mojave, 0.1 California King, 0.1 Saharan sand boa, ~20 hermit crabs, a Patriot crab, 5.0 rats, and a herd of mice and ASFs

agreed, to be honest i think they are the most docile snakes out there, and ive never been bitten by them once, and Rubber Boas (Charina bottae which is in the family Erycinae) is an extremely tame snake that will stay on your hand for hours!

I just got one yesterday. I got her from Brian at BHB. He picked her out for me, and said well, she's a little wild And that she is. She is quite jumpy. Hopefully she calms down soon!

haha well do you know if shes a Southern Rubber Boa (Charina umbritica) or a Northern Rubber Boa (Charina bottae)? ive heard that the Southern one is more jumpy, and all the ones ive held are great, but that could just be my experience

Re: Sand Boas
She's actually a female Kenyan Sand Boa. The rubber boa's next on the list. My friend has a few and they are awesome. Anywho, here's a picture of her.

She's just a little skittish. I assume with regular handling she'll calm down.

Re: Sand Boas
I have a normal Kenyan at home, and have for about 15 years. He's honestly my favorite snake of our collection. Extremely docile should you want to show him off, and when feeding time comes around I can't stop watching. Ambush predation at its finest.
