    Still sick

Trinity has been back to the Vet’s office twice this week. It would seem that the infection is still there. Doc has me giving oral Baytril now. What a pain oral is. Doc. is talking about doing a lung wash for a culture from the lung in about 2 weeks if he doesn’t show improvement on the baytril. He also said he is having a hard time evaluating Trinity’s condition because Trinity doesn’t have much muscle mass, Trinity is too much fat. I have been trying to correct this with smaller less frequent feedings, but it may be too little too late.

I don’t like the idea of giving oral Baytril, but I am out of ideas and this is something different. I just feel like this is a step backward from what we have done already.

Aw geezum! I mean, I'm REALLY pissed with this news! Sincerely. Such a gorgeous snake. Fell in love with her the moment you posted his picks just recently and just when I though things were headed in the right direction!

There was a big burm at a local small pet shop here in town that had some kind of internal infection and every few weeks when I went in there you could tell he just wasn't doing well. I really (in my own head) would stand there and "root him on" just hoping he would get better. But in the end it just wasn't meant to be. So now I will be pulling for Trinity - longer distance of course.

Hopefully the oral Baytril will begin to turn things around. I know I would do all I could to help out guys here. Please keep us posted!

    God bless.

PS - In the above post you mention "if he doesn't show improvement..." but in the post "Reintroducing Trinity" you mention "...she has been on antibiotics..."

I was under the impression Trinity was a female.

    Yea,
Sorry for the confusion. I purchased Trinity sexed as a female. I posted a pic on another forum and somebody recognized her or him, and informed me of the mistake. I have since verified Trinity to be a male. We probed him and almost lost the probe in there it was so deep. Both sides. Don’t know how the guy could have made that mistake.

He has been eating really well through this whole ordeal. But with the oral baytril I just don’t know. I am going to see if he will take an F/T tonight, so please keep your fingers crossed.

I hope he gets better soon, try what you can!

I'm dealing with an RI which seems to be showing some improvement but not much. Today I give her injection #4.. I think? I don't even remember.

I am tracking the doses and what drug we are currently using on an excel spread sheet. I am such a scatter brain that I don’t think I could keep up with what we are doing without the spread sheet.

Good luck with treating the RI. I know these things can be very difficult.

Thanks, good luck to you too!

I still have the needles saved from the injections I had already given her but I forget to count, all I remember is "Give her one injection every other day." Today I gotta give her one, but I will later around the late afternoon which is when I do so (gotta fix some stuff up with the Beardie and take my Kingsnake out for some roaming).

Geez, hope none of our guys gets an RI. Sounds like it can be a pain in the, uh, well, you know.

So since Trinity turned out to be a male, I guess that makes him a Trinidad! (Sorry...you've prob heard that a millions times already).

You can un-cross your fingers now. Trinity ate his rat tartar with gusto.

I wouldn’t call him Trinidad just yet; after all, he must be healthy before we can introduce him to the ladies. (That was a first).
